2.96g Glassy Green & Black Trinitite including a rare Oppenheimer Commemorative Stamp Sheet.
1. Stunning 2.96g Glassy Green & Black with a small visible purple colored spot on the topside and a raised area of silica on the topside. The topside is extremely glassy with an array of green colors from olive to hunter green. The topside is surrounded by solid bright green crystals, crystallizations, craters full of crystalline, and silica along the sides and edges. This piece is thick leaving plenty of room for all of these characteristics to be seen by the naked eye! This piece was formed at detonation and was thrusted upwards above the mushroom cloud, into the man made storm above, instantly cooled by the rain droplets long before hitting the desert sand. This piece has black spots which means it picked up a small amount of the steel towers. The small purple spot indicates the piece also picked up a small amount of copper wiring wrapped around Gadget and laid out across the desert sand.
2. Oppenheimer Commemorative Stamp Sheet is included. This is a rare addition with a color photograph of Oppenheimer, followed by a black and white photograph of the crater from above, and ends with a photograph of Gadget. This Commemorative Stamp Sheet was issued by the Republique De Djibouti. Technically, each photograph is an individual stamp, but for preservation and full appreciation, we opted to keep the individual stamps together, as a sheet.
3. The Trinitite, along with the Commemorative Stamp Sheet comes in a high end thick plastic case, with a clear 360° view of the Trinitite. This case allows for full visibility of the topside, the sides and edges, all without having to remove the Trinitite. This case can lay flat for a downward view, placed on a shelf with its backside supported by the backend of the shelf or up against a wall for a forward facing view. This case can also be placed on an easel to be admired on a side table, desktop, or to be supported if displayed further to the front of a shelf/bookcase. The Commemorative Stamp Sheet and Trinitite rest on a black foam insert. The Stamp Sheet is held in place by a small, sheer, and flat sticky tape, not effecting the sheet. The Trinitite is secured by a small pea sized piece of rock putty, which will remain tacky enough to allow for removal and then placed back inside the case on the foam insert. An extra small covered putty is included.
