This piece of Trinitite has a glassy topside. The topside's appearance contains visible feldspar, which is unique in its own right, creating more than a glassy appearance on the topside. The topside has an area smooth to the touch and the remaining areas are slightly rough to the touch.

This piece is very thick. Along ALL edges and sides of this piece are beautiful bright glassy green crystallizations. Most of these crystallizations are large given the height of this piece of Trinitite. The sides of this piece lives up to Trinitite's nickname: Green Glass!

During light play, you will see all of the characteristics with the naked eye. The photos taken are 3x magnified because what can be seen with the naked eye, cannot be seen by zero magnification of the camera lens.

Below is an AI laymen explanation of the topside's appearance:

  • Arkosic describes the type of sand that was melted by the atomic blast. Arkose is a type of sandstone (or in this case, unconsolidated sand) that is rich in feldspar grains, along with abundant quartz and other minerals.
  • Feldspar is a specific, major mineral found within the arkosic sand (specifically microcline and plagioclase, a type of feldspar).

Trinitite is primarily composed of fused arkosic sand, which contains significant amounts of the mineral feldspar (and quartz). Using "arkosic" provides a more complete geological description of the source material as a whole.

This piece comes inside a small leatherbound, glass top, clasp display case. The case can lay flat for a downward view, or stood up on its hinge side for a forward facing view. The interior of the case has a double-sided reversible black/white velvet cushion for the background color. *It is important to note: The photographs of this piece placed in the display case, does not accurately reflect the color. The piece inside the case is the same as if out of the case.

Measurements of the case: 2" x 2" x 3/8"
